mineralogy elements Sn Tin

Sn - Tin - POOR METAL

Tin is a metallic chemical element, bearing the chemical symbol Sn and the atomic number 50. It is part of group 14 of the periodic table of the elements, reputed to belong to the family of transition metals, namely those which are between metals and non-metals in the table.

Pewter is found in its native state as well as in an alloy. It is widely used in industry for its metallurgical and mechanical properties.

Pewter is a very malleable and malleable silver-gray metal. It breaks easily and twists easily under the action of mechanical forces. It has a low density relative to other metals, as well as excellent electrical conductivity. Finally, it has a melting point of 232°C.

Tin is a very stable metal known to be very refractory to acids and corrodes with difficulty, which makes it a highly sought-after metal for its resistance to corrosion. Also, it has good thermal conductivity and is highly resistant to heat and oxidation.

Tin is widely used in industry, for its metallurgical properties and its mechanical properties. It is notably used to manufacture electronic components, mechanical parts and electromechanical products, batteries, appendages and insulation materials. Finally, it is used to produce cosmetics and household cleaning products, as well as paints and inks.
