Mn Manganese
Mn - Manganese - TRANSITION METAL
Manganese is a silver-gray metallic chemical element found in the second column of the periodic table of elements. Its chemical symbol is Mn and its atomic number is 25. Manganese is found in nature as minerals, as impurities in iron and in metamorphic rocks such as granite or coal.
Manganese has a relative atomic mass of 54.94 g/mol and is the twelfth most abundant element in the earth's crust. Its crystal structure is face-centered cubic. It has a density of 7.21 g/cm³ and a melting point of 1245°C and a boiling point of 2061°C.
Manganese is soft and soft, but often accompanied by other metals in alloys, making it harder. Manganese is an excellent X-ray absorber and is used in X-ray tubes. Manganese is found in lithium-manganese cells which are commonly used in electronic devices. Manganese is commonly used in steels that are mined for their high strength and durability.
Manganese is necessary for human health in minimal amounts and is important for the assimilation of vitamins and minerals in the human body. It is also necessary for the normal functionality of liver enzymes. Manganese is also used in some medical devices such as orthopedic implants. Manganese is also used to treat manganese in drinking water to make it more drinkable.
