Cerussite - Natural minerals and crystals

Cerussite is a mineral of the carbonate class, more precisely a lead carbonate. It appears in the form of colorless, white, gray crystals or sometimes colored yellow or green due to impurities. cerussite crystals are often very shiny and can be transparent or translucent. They are generally prismatic or tabular in shape. cerussite has a hardness of 3 to 3.5 on the Mohs scale, making it quite soft. It is also notable for its high density, approximately 6.5 g/cm3, which is typical of lead-containing minerals. cerussite is commonly found in oxidation zones of lead deposits, often associated with other minerals such as galena, anglesite and smithsonite.
