Small collection of original Carnelians: part of the rock is polished, the other is left raw. carnelian is a variety of chalcedony that is distinguished by its shades ranging from orange-red to dark brown. Its color is due to the presence of iron oxides. carnelian specimens are often translucent and their luster is vitreous.
