These small coloured agate slices are thin sections of natural stone, obtained by cutting raw agate nodules crosswise. This mineral, belonging to the chalcedony family, is characterised by its concentric bands and varied patterns, resulting from natural geological processes of mineral accumulation. Each slice displays a unique design, formed of coloured strata. The colours found are generally achieved through a dyeing process, applied to naturally porous agates, in order to intensify or diversify their original colour palette.

They are frequently used in the making of handcrafted jewellery, such as pendants or necklace elements, but also as decorative objects for display, as place-card holders at events, or as sources of inspiration for scrapbooking and decorative art projects. Their translucent appearance and natural patterns make them popular with creators looking to incorporate mineral materials into their work.

Agate, as a mineral, belongs to the microcrystalline quartz group and forms mainly in volcanic cavities, where silica-rich solutions are gradually deposited in successive layers. This geological formation explains the diversity of patterns found on each slice, making every piece distinct even within a similar batch. The small coloured agate slices offered in this collection are selected for their finishing quality and the clarity of their coloured bands.
