13th Amélie-les-Bains Mineralogy and Paleontology Show

It is with pleasure that the members of the Vallespirienne Association of Mineralogy and
Paleontology invite you to come and discover their 13th show dedicated to minerals and
fossils.

This year's theme will highlight Catalan mining heritage. The association
“Memory of the Mine” of Escaro – Aytua represented by Mr. Patrick Duval, will present a
exhibition retracing the mining history of this part of Conflent at the foot of Canigou. He will be
available to visitors to provide information on the history of the site or the
operating techniques used.

From the first mining traces from the Gallo-Roman period until the end of the 20th century, the
visitor will discover the history of the production of iron ore then that of fluorite, where
In the 1960s and 1970s Escaro would become the largest fluorspar exploitation in Europe.
This year there are 20 exhibitors who will offer minerals, fossils, from France and
from all over the world, small jewelry and decorative objects in cut minerals. A
lapidary will be present for a demonstration of gem cutting.

The show will take place on October 7 and 8, 2023 at the Mediterranean space (near the swimming pool)
Saturday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Entrance costs €3, free for
under 16s. Bar and snacks on site.
