Lepidolite - Natural minerals and crystals

Lepidolite is a mineral belonging to the mica family. These minerals are characterized by a layered structure, which gives them excellent cleavage, that is, they break easily into thin lamellae. Its name, from the Greek "lepis" means "scale", in reference to its lamellar appearance, and "lithos" which means "stone". Chemically, lepidolite is a silicate of potassium, aluminum and lithium.
