Gypsum - Natural minerals and crystals

Gypsum is a mineral belonging to the category of hydrated sulfates. Its chemical formula indicates that it is composed of calcium sulfate with two water molecules. It is a very common mineral on the planet, present in many types of sedimentary raw rocks and minerals">rocks and sometimes even in meteorites. Gypsum is easily recognizable by its very low hardness, being classified 2 on the Mohs scale, which makes it easy to scratch with a fingernail. It often appears in crystalline form, sometimes fibrous or granular, and its color varies from white to gray, sometimes with tints of yellow or pink. Gypsum is widely used in industry, particularly for the manufacture of plaster, cement and as an amendment for agricultural soils.
