Iolite - Natural minerals and crystals
Iolite is a variety of peridot, a violet-blue colored magnesium iron silicate mineral. The chemical composition of iolite is Mg2Al3(Si5Al2)O18. Iolite forms primarily under the forces of regional metamorphism, but it can also form in granitic, basaltic, and andesitic igneous raw rocks and minerals">rocks. The color of iolite is usually light blue to violet-blue, and it is rarely completely transparent. Iolite is best known for being a colored stone, but it has a variety of other uses as well. It can be used for jewelry making or as a precious gem for jewelry. It is also used for the manufacture of glass, stained glass and medicinal products.
