Cinnabar - Natural minerals and crystals

Cinnabar is a mineral species made up of mercury sulfide. Cinnabar is one of the most important sources of mercury. Its name comes from the Persian word meaning dragon's blood. Cinnabar is a heavy, red mineral with an easily recognizable appearance. It is not found in isolated crystals but generally in microcrystalline masses. In powder, the cinnabar keeps its color, it is used as a pigment under the name of vermilion.
