Jet - Natural minerals and crystals

Jet is a fossil charcoal mineral, black in color. It is considered to be a bituminous coal with the chemical composition (C)(H)(O). Jet has an amorphous crystal system and a hardness of 2 to 4 Mohs. Jet is commonly found in sedimentary raw rocks and minerals">rocks, especially limestones, and is usually associated with darker ores such as anthracite and coal. States where jet is found include Connecticut, Rhode Island and New Jersey, as well as parts of Africa, Asia, South America and Australia. Jet has been used for centuries to make jewelry, ornaments and other decorative products. It is also used in industry as a raw material for the manufacture of clothing, cosmetics and household products. Also, jet is often used for marble counting, dice and sticks for games and sports.
