Microcline is a mineral species of the very common K-feldspar family, silicate group and tectosilicate subgroup. Microline contains traces of the following elements: Fe, Ca, Na, Li, Cs, Rb and H2O. Certain microline are called moonstone and are a mixture of two species of feldspar: orthosis and albite. When the light passes through the layers of the rock, this one disperses producing the phenomenon of adularescence or Schiller effect resulting in a shimmer under the surface of the stone. This effect is particularly known in moonstone, sunstone and in labradorite.
